The Spiritist Centre
The Spiritist Centre (TSC) is a haven for experiencing oneness within one’s self and with all that there is. Nestled tranquilly atop a hillside in the Valley of Thousand Hills, Drummond, KwaZulu-Natal, TSC is a healing sanctuary offering 360-degree views of nature. Self-discovery is the foundation for healing that facilitates reclamation and restoration.

Our guiding theme is expression of our divine selves, individually and collectively. We offer divination services, equine therapy and epistemic freedom based webinars, workshops, seminars, retreats and classes themed around spiritual matters. Our service population embraces those who wish to know more about their ancestors. Those who think that there is such a thing as walking with one’s ancestors, will resonate with TSC. My Story
Welcome to The Spiritist Centre. I am Mkhulu (aka Fayth Ruffin) and overseer of TSC. I am an epistemic freedom advocate whose careers span the public, private, non-governmental and higher education sectors. I hold a Juris Doctorate (law) degree and a PhD in Global Affairs. After practicing law in the United States, I relocated to South Africa, teaching, researching and co-creating knowledge with communities before retiring from the University of KwaZulu-Natal as Honorary Full Professor of Public Governance. I am grateful to have earned coveted university and national teaching awards, such as the UKZN Distinguished Teachers Award and the national CHE/HELTASA Teaching Excellence Award in South Africa. I have published widely and delivered public speeches across four continents and twelve countries. I continue consultancies for various continental, national and local organisations and is a sought-after public speaker and diviner.
Having experience in multiple careers across different sectors enables me to advance epistemic freedom with criticality and coach you and your organisation is so doing. A wounded healer’s approach to spiritual consciousness
In this book, I question what vibrational frequencies remain within and around you from the institutions of slavery, colonisation, segregation and apartheid? These four institutions have silenced human divinity. The dominant narrative that: ‘Black people never accomplished anything worthwhile. Therefore, black people have no meaningful history,’ has outlived its usefulness. We know the truth. Ourstory – our story of humanity can no longer be limited to ‘his-story’. This book uses ancient indigenous ways of knowing to show how westernised civilisation is not original but ‘borrowed’ without acknowledgment.
This book highlights the need for exercising dismantling techniques that deconstruct coloniality and lead us to epistemic freedom and cosmological justice.
Contextualised by my own genealogy, I am a mouthpiece for my Divine Collective, inclusive of ancestors, spirit guides, Orisha and Egbe Orun, who brought me home to Ndwandwe ancestors in southern Africa.
